Spitalnik & Spitalnik is a boutique firm focusing on Construction and Commercial law. We handle all business-related law matters from the creation of the business (drafting partnership agreements, LLC operating agreements) to corporate dissolutions and all issues in between.
Josh Spitalnik has devoted over a decade to the practice of construction and commercial law. He received his Bachelor of Science in Human Development from Cornell University and went on to earn a law degree from Brooklyn Law School. Following graduation, he became an associate at Cohen & Krasner with a concentration in construction law, commercial law, and consumer debt collection. Later, Josh became a partner at the Law Offices of Melvin J. Kalish, PLLC, representing construction clients in all matters of the industry and commercial law.
Prior to law school, Josh worked as a senior buying assistant for Loews Cineplex Entertainment, handling purchasing for the construction of new movie theatres throughout North America. This background allows him to bring a real-world perspective to his clients’ legal matters and to remain proactive to avoid litigation.
When he is not in the office, Josh loves spending time with his two rambunctious boys and beautiful wife. He is also a life-long baseball fan who travels around the country in an attempt to see every baseball stadium.
Heather Harris Spitalnik is the Firm’s Managing Partner, handling all aspects of the Firm’s Construction and Commercial Law practice. Heather’s philosophy is to look at each client’s business like it is her own, and to provide guidance and oversight designed to protect clients against potential risks and to ensure strong performance for the client moving forward. This includes everything from reviewing and negotiating the client’s construction contracts to litigating the client’s claims, to collecting post-judgment awards, and everything else in between.
Prior to joining the Firm, Heather spent over fourteen years working for Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP focusing on complex commercial litigation matters. Heather’s main responsibilities were handling E-Discovery matters for major financial institutions and other Fortune 500 companies, responding to investigations by various government agencies, and analyzing document requests and responses for complex litigation and corporate internal investigations. Heather additionally worked at a boutique law firm specializing in Health Care Law working on all aspects of a physician’s practice and business including medical practice formation, employment contracts and matrimonial law.
Heather graduated from Boston University School of Law, and received her Bachelors of Science in Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from Washington University in St. Louis.
